13	13	A RESOLUTION to commend the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
14	14	Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days
15	15	at the Capitol.

17	17	WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor and specially commend those distinguished
18	18	organizations whose stated goals advance the most noble precepts of human endeavors and
19	19	whose history of service in pursuit of those goals stands as a shining example to the citizens of
20	20	this great State; and
21	21	WHEREAS, one such estimable organization that evinces the greatest integrity and
22	22	probity in all its chosen endeavors is the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
23	23	Inc., which will host the annual Delta Days at the Capitol on February 17-18, 2025; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Tennessee's first Delta Days at the Capitol was held February 22-23, 2010,
25	25	and featured informative workshops on various social action topics, including HIV/AIDS, the
26	26	housing crisis, economic development, and the State education system; there was also a
27	27	townhall meeting titled Healthcare: Key Issues Facing African Americans; and
28	28	WHEREAS, the chairs and sponsors for this year's Delta Days at the Capitol are
29	29	Chandra L. Wilson, Tennessee Social Action Coordinator and Chattanooga Alumnae; Celia
30	30	Conley, Tennessee Social Action Co-Coordinator and Nashville Alumnae; Jessica Rich, Delta
31	31	Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae; Michelle
32	32	Steele, Delta Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae;
33	33	and Senator Raumesh Akbari, Honorary Delta Days at the Capitol Co-Chair and Memphis
34	34	Alumnae; and
35	35	WHEREAS, once again, the respected members of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
36	36	Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will gather for Delta Days at the Capitol, during which time these

41	41	incredible women from across the State will learn about advocacy approaches to address social
42	42	change and develop a structured plan to improve public policies; and
43	43	WHEREAS, the women of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,
44	44	are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee
45	45	recognition as the Volunteer State; now, therefore,
46	46	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
47	47	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we commend the members of
48	48	the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days at the Capitol,
49	49	extending our gratitude for their exemplary service to their respective communities and
50	50	applauding their efforts to improve the policies of the State and the well-being of its citizens.
51	51	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
52	52	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
