1313 A RESOLUTION to commend the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
1414 Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days
1515 at the Capitol.

1717 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor and specially commend those distinguished
1818 organizations whose stated goals advance the most noble precepts of human endeavors and
1919 whose history of service in pursuit of those goals stands as a shining example to the citizens of
2020 this great State; and
2121 WHEREAS, one such estimable organization that evinces the greatest integrity and
2222 probity in all its chosen endeavors is the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
2323 Inc., which will host the annual Delta Days at the Capitol on February 17-18, 2025; and
2424 WHEREAS, Tennessee's first Delta Days at the Capitol was held February 22-23, 2010,
2525 and featured informative workshops on various social action topics, including HIV/AIDS, the
2626 housing crisis, economic development, and the State education system; there was also a
2727 townhall meeting titled Healthcare: Key Issues Facing African Americans; and
2828 WHEREAS, the chairs and sponsors for this year's Delta Days at the Capitol are
2929 Chandra L. Wilson, Tennessee Social Action Coordinator and Chattanooga Alumnae; Celia
3030 Conley, Tennessee Social Action Co-Coordinator and Nashville Alumnae; Jessica Rich, Delta
3131 Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae; Michelle
3232 Steele, Delta Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae;
3333 and Senator Raumesh Akbari, Honorary Delta Days at the Capitol Co-Chair and Memphis
3434 Alumnae; and
3535 WHEREAS, once again, the respected members of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta
3636 Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will gather for Delta Days at the Capitol, during which time these

4141 incredible women from across the State will learn about advocacy approaches to address social
4242 change and develop a structured plan to improve public policies; and
4343 WHEREAS, the women of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.,
4444 are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee
4545 recognition as the Volunteer State; now, therefore,
4646 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
4747 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we commend the members of
4848 the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days at the Capitol,
4949 extending our gratitude for their exemplary service to their respective communities and
5050 applauding their efforts to improve the policies of the State and the well-being of its citizens.
5151 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5252 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
