<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE RESOLUTION 10 By Akbari SR0010 003016 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to commend the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days at the Capitol. WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor and specially commend those distinguished organizations whose stated goals advance the most noble precepts of human endeavors and whose history of service in pursuit of those goals stands as a shining example to the citizens of this great State; and WHEREAS, one such estimable organization that evinces the greatest integrity and probity in all its chosen endeavors is the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., which will host the annual Delta Days at the Capitol on February 17-18, 2025; and WHEREAS, Tennessee's first Delta Days at the Capitol was held February 22-23, 2010, and featured informative workshops on various social action topics, including HIV/AIDS, the housing crisis, economic development, and the State education system; there was also a townhall meeting titled Healthcare: Key Issues Facing African Americans; and WHEREAS, the chairs and sponsors for this year's Delta Days at the Capitol are Chandra L. Wilson, Tennessee Social Action Coordinator and Chattanooga Alumnae; Celia Conley, Tennessee Social Action Co-Coordinator and Nashville Alumnae; Jessica Rich, Delta Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae; Michelle Steele, Delta Days at the Capitol Host and Co-Coordinator and Nashville Metropolitan Alumnae; and Senator Raumesh Akbari, Honorary Delta Days at the Capitol Co-Chair and Memphis Alumnae; and WHEREAS, once again, the respected members of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will gather for Delta Days at the Capitol, during which time these - 2 - 003016 incredible women from across the State will learn about advocacy approaches to address social change and develop a structured plan to improve public policies; and WHEREAS, the women of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we commend the members of the Tennessee Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., for their Delta Days at the Capitol, extending our gratitude for their exemplary service to their respective communities and applauding their efforts to improve the policies of the State and the well-being of its citizens. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
