| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides for the creation of |

| 16 | 16 | | the State Board of Education; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, further provides that the |

| 18 | 18 | | Speaker of the Senate shall appoint members representing the third, fourth, and seventh |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | congressional districts to the State Board of Education; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Speaker Randy McNally has appointed Marsha Johnson of Clarksville to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the State Board of Education as a member representing the Seventh Congressional District to a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | term that will expire on March 31, 2029; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, a highly respected member of her community, Marsha Johnson is a former |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | elementary and middle school teacher with thirty-five years of experience, having taught in the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Montgomery County Schools System and in Kentucky at Fort Campbell's Dependent Schools; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | elementary education at Austin Peay State University and received a Presidential Award |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | representing the Armed Forces for Excellence in Mathematics in 2001; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Marsha Johnson is a person of integrity and an active citizen whose |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | benevolence, acumen, and strong commitment to public service have helped to enhance the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | well-being of this State and its citizens; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides that each member |
