A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Marsha Johnson 
of Clarksville to the State Board of Education. 
 
 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides for the creation of 
the State Board of Education; and 
 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, further provides that the 
Speaker of the Senate shall appoint members representing the third, fourth, and seventh 
congressional districts to the State Board of Education; and 
 WHEREAS, Speaker Randy McNally has appointed Marsha Johnson of Clarksville to 
the State Board of Education as a member representing the Seventh Congressional District to a 
term that will expire on March 31, 2029; and 
 WHEREAS, a highly respected member of her community, Marsha Johnson is a former 
elementary and middle school teacher with thirty-five years of experience, having taught in the 
Montgomery County Schools System and in Kentucky at Fort Campbell's Dependent Schools; 
and  
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in 
elementary education at Austin Peay State University and received a Presidential Award 
representing the Armed Forces for Excellence in Mathematics in 2001; and   
 WHEREAS, Marsha Johnson is a person of integrity and an active citizen whose 
benevolence, acumen, and strong commitment to public service have helped to enhance the 
well-being of this State and its citizens; and 
 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides that each member 
appointed by the Speaker of the Senate to the State Board of Education shall be subject to 
confirmation by the Senate; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that this body does hereby confirm 
the appointment of Marsha Johnson of Clarksville to the State Board of Education as a member 
representing the Seventh Congressional District to a term that will expire on March 31, 2029.
