<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE RESOLUTION 19 By Lamar SR0019 003933 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor Beverly C. Robertson in celebration of Women's Day on the Hill. WHEREAS, Women's Day on the Hill is a time to honor the achievements of those Tennessee women who have paved the way for every person to have the opportunity to pursue the American dream; and WHEREAS, the Volunteer State is proud to be the home of the awe-inspiring Beverly C. Robertson, who recently retired as the President and CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber, the first woman and the first African American to ever lead the organization in its 185 years of existence; and WHEREAS, Ms. Robertson currently serves as the COO of Trust Marketing, which she helped found in 1991; throughout her stellar and celebrated career in corporate and nonprofit leadership, she has served as Vice President of Internal Communications for Holiday Inns worldwide and interim Executive Director of the National Civil Rights Museum, where she also served as President for eighteen years; and WHEREAS, named one of USA Today's "Women of the Century" in 2020, Ms. Robertson has further served her fellow citizens through consulting work with the Association of African American Museums and the National Museum of African American History and Culture; and WHEREAS, in saluting Ms. Robertson on this special occasion, let us remember that when women succeed, America succeeds, as does Tennessee; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we hereby honor and commend - 2 - 003933 Beverly C. Robertson on her many contributions to the State of Tennessee as we celebrate Women's Day on the Hill. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
