<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE RESOLUTION 64 By Lamar SR0064 006040 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor Tracey Morant Adams, Ph.D., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., South Eastern Region Director. WHEREAS, we are pleased to recognize the leaders of those estimable organizations who, through their unflagging commitment and unwavering dedication to the highest tenets of community service, enrich the lives of the citizens of this State; and WHEREAS, one such individual is Dr. Tracey Morant Adams, who currently serves the South Eastern Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as Regional Director; and WHEREAS, the South Eastern Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha includes the states of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama, with more than 118 undergraduate and graduate chapters and over 14,000 active members who are dedicated to the mission of their illustrious organization; and WHEREAS, the Tennessee Cluster of the region has continued to grow and thrive over the years; its current membership totals thirty-three chapters across the Volunteer State's three Grand Divisions; and WHEREAS, motivated by an altruistic concern for human welfare, Dr. Morant Adams was initiated in the Mu Chapter in 1985 and has remained an active member since that time; she has served at all levels of the sorority, most recently as Chairman of the International Membership Committee, spearheading a campaign to reactivate more than 30,000 members; and WHEREAS, her impressive tenure of service also includes being a Representative to the Membership, Standards Committees, and the I/E Investigations Team; at the regional level, she - 2 - 006040 has served as Operations Chairman, Logistics Chairman, Secretary, and General Chairman of the 79 th South Eastern Regional Conference; and WHEREAS, additionally, she is a Charter Member of the Upsilon Eta Omega Chapter and a certified Parliamentarian, Graduate Advisor, and Financial Officer; and WHEREAS, apart from her involvement with Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., Dr. Tracey Morant Adams is Chief Community Development and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer for Renasant Bank and serves as Executive Strategist for the bank's DEI framework; and WHEREAS, her humanitarian efforts have been celebrated by many, including the NAACP, Profiles in Diversity Journal, and Savoy magazine, which named her among the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America; and WHERES, Dr. Morant Adams's civic affiliations include serving on the Talladega College Board of Trustees, the Birmingham Kiwanis Board, The Women's Foundation of Alabama, Children's Hospital of Alabama, and The Links, Incorporated; she also serves on national community development advocacy boards and was appointed to the Alabama Women's Statutes Commission by the governor of Alabama in 2021; and WHEREAS, her many accomplishments aside, she is most grateful for the love of her husband, Jeffery J. Adams, Sr., a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and proud to be the bonus mother of J.J. Adams and the daughter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Life Member Callie W. Morant; her goddaughter, Trinity Odongo, is also a member of the sorority; and WHEREAS, Director Tracey Morant Adams has ably steered the South Eastern Region toward continued, unparalleled success, ever furthering the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha along with her sorors from Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor Alpha Kappa Alpha - 3 - 006040 Sorority, Inc., South Eastern Region Director Tracey Morant Adams, Ph.D., extending our best wishes for her continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
