12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Kenlee McDonald
13	13	upon winning second place in the 2025 National
14	14	Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pay tribute to
17	17	those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic
18	18	excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom and their community; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Kenlee McDonald is one such exceptional student, who recently won
20	20	second place in the local 2025 National Civics Bee competition hosted by the Lawrence County
21	21	Chamber of Commerce on March 14, 2025, at the Southern Tennessee Higher Education
22	22	Center; and
23	23	WHEREAS, the National Civics Bee is a nationwide initiative that inspires young people
24	24	to engage in civics and play an active role in their communities; and
25	25	WHEREAS, among more than 220 essay submissions, each addressing a community
26	26	issue and proposing a thoughtful solution, twenty middle school students were selected as
27	27	finalists and competed in a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge; and
28	28	WHEREAS, a student at E.O. Coffman Middle School, where she is highly regarded by
29	29	her peers, Kenlee McDonald has achieved academic success and has readied herself to
30	30	become an active and conscientious citizen; and
31	31	WHEREAS, in winning second place in the National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals,
32	32	Ms. McDonald will advance to compete in the National Civics Bee Tennessee State Finals in
33	33	June; and
34	34	WHEREAS, her display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for her
35	35	future success; and

40	40	WHEREAS, Kenlee McDonald's achievement is a tremendous source of pride for her
41	41	family, her school, and her community; and
42	42	WHEREAS, Ms. McDonald's dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of our respect,
43	43	admiration, and commendation; now, therefore,
44	44	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
45	45	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate
46	46	Kenlee McDonald upon winning second place in the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County
47	47	Finals, hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and extend to her our best
48	48	wishes for every continued success and happiness.
49	49	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
50	50	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
