<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE RESOLUTION 128 By Walley SR0128 007043 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Kenlee McDonald upon winning second place in the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this legislative body should pay tribute to those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom and their community; and WHEREAS, Kenlee McDonald is one such exceptional student, who recently won second place in the local 2025 National Civics Bee competition hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce on March 14, 2025, at the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center; and WHEREAS, the National Civics Bee is a nationwide initiative that inspires young people to engage in civics and play an active role in their communities; and WHEREAS, among more than 220 essay submissions, each addressing a community issue and proposing a thoughtful solution, twenty middle school students were selected as finalists and competed in a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge; and WHEREAS, a student at E.O. Coffman Middle School, where she is highly regarded by her peers, Kenlee McDonald has achieved academic success and has readied herself to become an active and conscientious citizen; and WHEREAS, in winning second place in the National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals, Ms. McDonald will advance to compete in the National Civics Bee Tennessee State Finals in June; and WHEREAS, her display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for her future success; and - 2 - 007043 WHEREAS, Kenlee McDonald's achievement is a tremendous source of pride for her family, her school, and her community; and WHEREAS, Ms. McDonald's dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of our respect, admiration, and commendation; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate Kenlee McDonald upon winning second place in the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals, hosted by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and extend to her our best wishes for every continued success and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
