A RESOLUTION to honor Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High
School on winning the state championship in the
USA Academic Decathlon.
WHEREAS, we take great pleasure in recognizing a group of students that exhibited
diligence, perseverance, and teamwork while earning laurels as state champion and will now
advance to national academic decathlon competition; and
WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School has earned the prestigious title
of state champion in the USA Academic Decathlon, achieving an impressive total score of
26,066.29; and
WHEREAS, this dynamic victory secures the team an automatic qualification for the in-
person national competition, which will take place May 1-3, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware entered the state competition with two competing teams, both
of them demonstrating outstanding academic prowess; and
WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware Team No. 1 led the way with the championship-winning
26,066.29 score, guaranteeing the team's spot at the national competition; and
WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware Team No. 2 also put forth a remarkable effort, earning a
16,249.71 score that qualified the team for the online national competition; and
WHEREAS, together, the two teams amassed an impressive combined total score of
42,316.00, further solidifying Fayette-Ware's reputation for academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, the school's commitment to fostering academic success was pivotal in
preparing the academic decathlon teams for high-level competition; and

WHEREAS, Fayette-Ware's state championship in the USA Academic Decathlon would
not have been possible without the leadership and dedication of coaches Bryan Banks and
Patricia Mattila; and
WHEREAS, as the Fayette-Ware teams prepare for the USA Academic Decathlon
national competition, they are fortunate to enjoy the unflagging support of their school and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, these consummate scholars demonstrate the importance of a well-rounded
education, and they are worthy of our approbation on this special occasion; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that we honor and congratulate the
team members and coaches of Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School on winning the state
championship in the USA Academic Decathlon and wish them much continued success in
national competition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
