 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to preparation of public school students to enter the
 workforce.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (n-1) to read as follows:
 (n-1)  The State Board of Education shall by rule ensure that
 the career and technology education curriculum under Subsection
 (a)(2)(F) offered at the high school level includes essential
 knowledge and skills specifically designed to prepare students to
 enter the workforce. The essential knowledge and skills must
 address the social and emotional aspects of entering the workforce,
 as well as practical aspects such as interviewing skills, workforce
 etiquette, and dress and grooming standards.
 SECTION 2. Section 28.002(n-1), Education Code, as added by
 this Act, applies beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
