66 AN ACT
77 relating to the eligibility requirements for appointment as county
88 elections administrator.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 31.034, Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 Sec. 31.034. ELIGIBILITY. (a) To be eligible for
1313 appointment as county elections administrator, a person must:
1414 (1) be a qualified voter of the state; and
1515 (2) have received a bachelor's degree from an
1616 accredited college or university.
1717 (b) A person who served as a county elections administrator
1818 on or before September 1, 2009, is exempt from the educational
1919 requirements prescribed by Subsection (a)(2).
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
