9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 31.034, Election Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 31.034. ELIGIBILITY. (a) To be eligible for | |
13 | 13 | appointment as county elections administrator, a person must: | |
14 | 14 | (1) be a qualified voter of the state; and | |
15 | 15 | (2) have received a bachelor's degree from an | |
16 | 16 | accredited college or university. | |
17 | 17 | (b) A person who served as a county elections administrator | |
18 | 18 | on or before September 1, 2009, is exempt from the educational | |
19 | 19 | requirements prescribed by Subsection (a)(2). | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
