 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the use of a judge's staff and office equipment to
 prepare a response to certain complaints or allegations or to
 provide certain information.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 33, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 33.0225 to read as follows:
 Sec. 33.0225.  USE OF STAFF AND EQUIPMENT. A judge may
 request and receive the assistance of the judge's staff and use the
 judge's and staff's office equipment to:
 (1) prepare for the commission a response to:
 (A) a complaint; or
 (B)  a request for information related to an
 allegation or appearance of misconduct or disability; or
 (2)  provide other information requested by the
 commission.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
