| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 22.003, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (c-1) Any informational handbook a school district provides |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to employees in an electronic or paper form or makes available by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | posting on the district website must include notification of an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | employee's rights under Subsection (b) in the relevant section of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the handbook. Any form used by a school district through which an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | employee may request leave under this section must include assault |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | leave under Subsection (b) as an option. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2009-2010 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | school year. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
