10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 61.029, Health and Safety Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (c) A county may provide or arrange to provide health care | |
14 | 14 | services for eligible county residents through the purchase of | |
15 | 15 | health coverage or other health benefits, including benefits | |
16 | 16 | described by Chapter 75. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 61.056, Health and Safety Code, is | |
18 | 18 | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
19 | 19 | (d) A public hospital or hospital district may provide or | |
20 | 20 | arrange to provide health care services for eligible residents | |
21 | 21 | through the purchase of health coverage or other health benefits, | |
22 | 22 | including benefits described by Chapter 75. For purposes of this | |
23 | 23 | subsection, the board of directors or managers of the hospital or | |
24 | 24 | district has the powers and duties provided to the commissioners | |
25 | 25 | court of a county under Chapter 75. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
