A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to information that must be included on certain electric
bills.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is
amended by adding Section 39.111 to read as follows:
Sec. 39.111. NOTICE REGARDING CUSTOMER CHOICE INFORMATION.
A retail electric provider shall include on a variable rate plan
customer's bill:
(1) a statement of the price of electric service,
exclusive of taxes and nonrecurring charges or credits, expressed
in terms of cents per kilowatt-hour rounded to the nearest
one-tenth of one percent, for the current billing period and
preceding billing period;
(2) a statement of the estimated price of electric
service, exclusive of taxes and nonrecurring charges or credits,
expressed in terms of cents per kilowatt-hour rounded to the
nearest one-tenth of one percent, for the upcoming billing period;
and
(3) a statement, in at least 14-point type on the front
of the first page, that reads: "For more information about your
electric service please visit www.powertochoose.com."
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
