| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 174.062, Election Code, is amended by | |
| 10 | 10 | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | |
| 11 | 11 | follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a [A] county | |
| 13 | 13 | convention shall be held in a county if the county is not situated | |
| 14 | 14 | in more than one state senatorial district. | |
| 15 | 15 | (c) If the county executive committee for a political party | |
| 16 | 16 | determines that no suitable location for the county convention is | |
| 17 | 17 | available in the county, the county executive committee may apply | |
| 18 | 18 | to the state executive committee of that political party to issue an | |
| 19 | 19 | order permitting the county convention to be held at a location | |
| 20 | 20 | outside the county. An order under this subsection must be entered | |
| 21 | 21 | in the minutes of the state executive committee not later than the | |
| 22 | 22 | 30th day before the date the county convention is to be held. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
