9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Of each fee collected for Donate Life Texas | |
11 | 11 | license plates issued under Section 504.801, Transportation Code, | |
12 | 12 | the Texas Department of Transportation shall send $22 to the | |
13 | 13 | comptroller. Money received by the comptroller under this section | |
14 | 14 | must be used to pay the costs of the Glenda Dawson Donate Life-Texas | |
15 | 15 | Registry, established under Chapter 49, Health and Safety Code, and | |
16 | 16 | of the Texas Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donor Council, established | |
17 | 17 | under Chapter 113, Health and Safety Code. Any money that is in | |
18 | 18 | excess of the amount necessary to accomplish the purposes of this | |
19 | 19 | section may be awarded using a competitive grant process to | |
20 | 20 | qualified organizations to conduct organ, eye, and tissue donation | |
21 | 21 | education activities in this state. A member of the Texas Organ, | |
22 | 22 | Tissue, and Eye Donor Council may not receive a grant under this | |
23 | 23 | section. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
