 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the disposition of fees collected for certain specialty
 license plates.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Of each fee collected for Donate Life Texas
 license plates issued under Section 504.801, Transportation Code,
 the Texas Department of Transportation shall send $22 to the
 comptroller. Money received by the comptroller under this section
 must be used to pay the costs of the Glenda Dawson Donate Life-Texas
 Registry, established under Chapter 49, Health and Safety Code, and
 of the Texas Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donor Council, established
 under Chapter 113, Health and Safety Code. Any money that is in
 excess of the amount necessary to accomplish the purposes of this
 section may be awarded using a competitive grant process to
 qualified organizations to conduct organ, eye, and tissue donation
 education activities in this state. A member of the Texas Organ,
 Tissue, and Eye Donor Council may not receive a grant under this
 section.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
