| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 1001, Education Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 1001.109 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 1001.109. INFORMATION RELATING TO TRAFFIC CIRCLES. | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) The commissioner by rule shall require that information | |
| 13 | 13 | relating to the proper procedure for approaching, driving through, | |
| 14 | 14 | and yielding the right-of-way at a traffic circle be included in the | |
| 15 | 15 | curriculum of each driver education and driving safety course. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) The department shall include the information required | |
| 17 | 17 | by Subsection (a) in any edition of the Texas driver's handbook | |
| 18 | 18 | published after the department exhausts the supply of the handbook | |
| 19 | 19 | that the department had on September 1, 2009. | |
| 20 | 20 | (c) In developing rules under this section, the | |
| 21 | 21 | commissioner shall consult with the department. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
