| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 142, Health and Safety |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 142.0201 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 142.0201. REGISTRATION FOR EVACUATION; DISASTER |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | PREPAREDNESS. A home and community support services agency shall: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (1) assist clients as necessary with registering for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | disaster evacuation assistance through 2-1-1 services provided by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Texas Information and Referral Network; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) counsel clients as necessary regarding disaster |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | preparedness. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
