| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1901, Occupations Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 1901.1511 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 1901.1511. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN | |
| 13 | 13 | DRILLERS. For purposes of determining an applicant's practical | |
| 14 | 14 | experience to apply for a license or take an examination to be a | |
| 15 | 15 | closed system geothermal well driller, a license under Subchapter | |
| 16 | 16 | F, Chapter 1302, and completion of a department-approved geothermal | |
| 17 | 17 | drilling training course is equivalent to two years of practical | |
| 18 | 18 | experience. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 20 | 20 | to a license application or examination application submitted on or | |
| 21 | 21 | after the effective date of this Act. An application filed before | |
| 22 | 22 | the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect when | |
| 23 | 23 | the application was filed, and the former law is continued in effect | |
| 24 | 24 | for that purpose. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
