 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to license and examination eligibility requirements for
 closed system geothermal well drillers.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1901, Occupations Code, is
 amended by adding Section 1901.1511 to read as follows:
 Sec. 1901.1511.  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN
 DRILLERS. For purposes of determining an applicant's practical
 experience to apply for a license or take an examination to be a
 closed system geothermal well driller, a license under Subchapter
 F, Chapter 1302, and completion of a department-approved geothermal
 drilling training course is equivalent to two years of practical
 experience.
 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
 to a license application or examination application submitted on or
 after the effective date of this Act. An application filed before
 the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect when
 the application was filed, and the former law is continued in effect
 for that purpose.
 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
