A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the issuance of specialty license plates for municipal
judges and justices of the peace.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 504, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 504.415 to read as follows:
Sec. 504.415. MUNICIPAL JUDGES AND JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.
(a) The department shall issue specialty license plates for
elected or appointed municipal judges and justices of the peace for
use during their term of office. The license plates must include a
depiction of the scales of justice and the words "Municipal Judge"
or "Justice of the Peace."
(b) A person may be issued three sets of license plates
under this section.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
