| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 65.007, Election Code, is amended by | |
| 10 | 10 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (e) A straight-party vote, including a straight-party | |
| 12 | 12 | selection recorded on a direct recording electronic voting machine, | |
| 13 | 13 | shall be tallied for the party receiving the vote notwithstanding | |
| 14 | 14 | the presence or absence of any additional vote for a nominee of that | |
| 15 | 15 | party. | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
