A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the tallying of certain straight-party votes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 65.007, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) A straight-party vote, including a straight-party
selection recorded on a direct recording electronic voting machine,
shall be tallied for the party receiving the vote notwithstanding
the presence or absence of any additional vote for a nominee of that
party.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
