77 relating to appropriations to certain public junior colleges
88 affected by Hurricane Ike.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 130.003, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1212 (a-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), for the state fiscal
1313 biennium beginning September 1, 2009, a public junior college
1414 located in a county with a population of more than 250,000 that
1515 borders the Gulf of Mexico and is adjacent to a county with a
1616 population of more than 3.3 million may not be appropriated an
1717 amount that is less than the amount appropriated to the public
1818 junior college for the biennium beginning September 1, 2007. This
1919 subsection expires September 1, 2011.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
