| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. The comptroller of public accounts shall conduct | |
| 11 | 11 | a study on the cost and benefits of undocumented immigrants to the | |
| 12 | 12 | state budget and economy, including the impact on education, health | |
| 13 | 13 | care, incarceration, salaries, and revenue for local governments | |
| 14 | 14 | and the state government. | |
| 15 | 15 | SECTION 2. On or before December 1, 2010, the comptroller | |
| 16 | 16 | shall: | |
| 17 | 17 | (1) publish the study on the Internet on a publicly | |
| 18 | 18 | accessible web page on an official Internet website of the | |
| 19 | 19 | comptroller's office; and | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) provide a copy of the study to the governor, the | |
| 21 | 21 | lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, | |
| 22 | 22 | and each standing committee of the legislature with jurisdiction | |
| 23 | 23 | over matters related to the study. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
