 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a study on the cost and benefits of undocumented
 immigrants to the state budget and economy.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. The comptroller of public accounts shall conduct
 a study on the cost and benefits of undocumented immigrants to the
 state budget and economy, including the impact on education, health
 care, incarceration, salaries, and revenue for local governments
 and the state government.
 SECTION 2. On or before December 1, 2010, the comptroller
 shall:
 (1) publish the study on the Internet on a publicly
 accessible web page on an official Internet website of the
 comptroller's office; and
 (2) provide a copy of the study to the governor, the
 lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives,
 and each standing committee of the legislature with jurisdiction
 over matters related to the study.
 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
