| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 504.660 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 504.660. AMBER ALERT SYSTEM LICENSE PLATES. (a) The | |
| 13 | 13 | department shall design and issue specialty license plates to | |
| 14 | 14 | support the statewide alert system authorized by Subchapter L, | |
| 15 | 15 | Chapter 411, Government Code. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) After deduction of the department's administrative | |
| 17 | 17 | costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates | |
| 18 | 18 | shall be deposited to the credit of the general revenue fund and may | |
| 19 | 19 | be appropriated only to the division of emergency management of the | |
| 20 | 20 | office of the governor to fund activities associated with the | |
| 21 | 21 | statewide alert system authorized by Subchapter L, Chapter 411, | |
| 22 | 22 | Government Code. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
