55 relating to the date by which the executive director of the Texas
66 Department of Licensing and Regulation must require compliance with
77 certain elevator safety standards.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 754.014, Health and Safety Code, is
1010 amended by amending Subsection (f) and adding Subsection (f-1) to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (f) The executive director shall grant a delay until
1313 September 1, 2012 [2010], for compliance with the requirements for
1414 [door restrictors or] firefighter's service in the ASME Code A17.3
1515 if those requirements were not included in the ASME Code A17.1 that
1616 was in effect on the date of installation and the equipment was not
1717 subsequently installed. This subsection expires October 1, 2012.
1818 (f-1) The executive director shall grant a delay until
1919 September 1, 2010, for compliance with the requirements for door
2020 restrictors in the ASME Code A17.3. This subsection expires
2121 October 1, 2010.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
