9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 42.25162 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 42.25162. ADJUSTMENT TO INCREASE EQUITY. (a) In this | |
13 | 13 | section: | |
14 | 14 | (1) "Wealth per student" has the meaning assigned by | |
15 | 15 | Section 41.001. | |
16 | 16 | (2) "Weighted average daily attendance" has the | |
17 | 17 | meaning assigned by Section 42.302. | |
18 | 18 | (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, the | |
19 | 19 | commissioner shall make adjustments to amounts due to a school | |
20 | 20 | district under this chapter or to amounts necessary for a district | |
21 | 21 | to comply with the requirements of Chapter 41 as appropriate to | |
22 | 22 | reduce by $1,000 the difference, as calculated on the basis of | |
23 | 23 | funding provided for the 2008-2009 school year, between: | |
24 | 24 | (1) the amount of state and local revenue per student | |
25 | 25 | in weighted average daily attendance available to a district at the | |
26 | 26 | highest wealth per student in this state; and | |
27 | 27 | (2) the amount of state and local revenue per student | |
28 | 28 | in weighted average daily attendance available to a district at the | |
29 | 29 | lowest wealth per student in this state. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
