| 7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Subchapter M, Chapter 56, Education Code, is | |
| 9 | 9 | amended by changing Section 56.302(a) to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 10 | (a) Except as provided under Section.310(c), the student | |
| 11 | 11 | financial assistance program authorized by this subchapter is know | |
| 12 | 12 | as the Toward Excellence, Access, & Success (TEXAS) grant | |
| 13 | 13 | scholarship program, and an individual grant scholarship awarded | |
| 14 | 14 | under this subchapter is known as a TEXAS grant scholarship. | |
| 15 | 15 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 16 | 16 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 17 | 17 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 18 | 18 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 19 | 19 | Act takes effect August 31, 2009. |
