A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to renaming the TEXAS Grant program.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter M, Chapter 56, Education Code, is
amended by changing Section 56.302(a) to read as follows:
(a) Except as provided under Section.310(c), the student
financial assistance program authorized by this subchapter is know
as the Toward Excellence, Access, & Success (TEXAS) grant
scholarship program, and an individual grant scholarship awarded
under this subchapter is known as a TEXAS grant scholarship.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect August 31, 2009.
