A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the Child Care and Development Block Grant.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 310.002, Labor Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) All Child Care and Development Block Grant funds
received under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
not explicitly dedicated under federal law shall be dedicated to
investments or programs that will improve the quality of child care
services delivered under the Child Care and Development Block Grant
after federal funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act expire.
SECTION 2. The Act takes effect immediately if it receives a
vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 29, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
