| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B of Chapter 28, Education Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 28.0221 to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 28.0221. READING LEVEL NOTICES. The board of trustees | |
| 12 | 12 | of each school district shall adopt a policy that requires the | |
| 13 | 13 | district, on the last report card and/or progress report of the Fall | |
| 14 | 14 | Semester and on the last report card and/or progress report of the | |
| 15 | 15 | Spring Semester, to give written notice to a parent of a student's | |
| 16 | 16 | grade level performance in reading. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2010. |
