A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the reporting of reading levels on notices to parents
and/or progress reports to parents.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B of Chapter 28, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 28.0221 to read as follows:
Sec. 28.0221. READING LEVEL NOTICES. The board of trustees
of each school district shall adopt a policy that requires the
district, on the last report card and/or progress report of the Fall
Semester and on the last report card and/or progress report of the
Spring Semester, to give written notice to a parent of a student's
grade level performance in reading.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2010.
