 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to designating June as Juneteenth/Frontier Cowboy Month.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 662.106 to read as follows:
 Sec. 662.106.  JUNETEENTH/FRONTIER COWBOY MONTH. (a) June
 is Juneteenth/Frontier Cowboy Month to:
 (1)  honor the fortitude and achievements of Texas
 cowboys of every ethnic background whose labors contributed
 immeasurably to the development of this state; and
 (2)  recognize Texas cowboys of every ethnic background
 as Texas heroes.
 (b)  Juneteenth/Frontier Cowboy Month shall be regularly
 observed by appropriate celebrations and activities.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
