44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, The loved ones of Juanita Daughtrey of Powderly were
66 greatly saddened by her passing on February 8, 2009, at the age of
77 86; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on January 9, 1923, in Lawton, Oklahoma, the
99 former Nita Blaylock was the daughter of Richard and Julia
1010 Blaylock; she graduated from Lawton High School and attended
1111 Cameron College in her hometown; in 1942, she became the wife of
1212 Orie Daughtrey and with him shared a fulfilling relationship until
1313 the time of his passing in 1977; fortunate to find love a second
1414 time, she married Leslie Turner, who passed away in 1994; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mrs. Daughtrey was employed as a legal secretary
1616 with the civil service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Camp Campbell,
1717 Kentucky, and in the offices of Dick and Brad Hutchison in Paris,
1818 Texas, and she was a teacher's aide at Aaron Parker Elementary
1919 School in Powderly; and
2020 WHEREAS, A member of the Woman's Missionary Union at Bounds
2121 Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school and served her fellow
2222 congregants as librarian, secretary, and treasurer; Mrs. Daughtrey
2323 further supported her community as a literacy program volunteer
2424 tutor and member of the Order of the Eastern Star; in her leisure
2525 time, she enjoyed playing table games, reading, and cooking; and
2626 WHEREAS, Nita Daughtrey lived a caring and purposeful life,
2727 and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those
2828 fortunate enough to have shared in her love and friendship; now,
2929 therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
3131 hereby pay tribute to the life of Juanita Daughtrey and extend
3232 sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children,
3333 Peggy Carpenter and her husband, Gene, and Sonny Daughtrey and his
3434 wife, Judy; to her grandchildren and their spouses, Brent and Wendy
3535 Chadwick, Angie and Jeremy Wheat, Cassidy and Ernie Emeyabbi,
3636 Bailee Roberts, Kevin and Kelli Carpenter, and Terrilynn Carpenter;
3737 to her great-grandchildren, Laramie, Jaylen, Braden, Chloe, Ana
3838 Claire, Kade, and Kasen; to her sisters, Colleen Green and June
3939 Rosheim; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4141 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4242 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4343 Nita Daughtrey.
