| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Billy |

| 6 | 6 | | Joe Patterson of Brookston, who passed away on February 18, 2009, at |

| 7 | 7 | | the age of 76; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on July 23, 1932, to Sherman and Opal Patterson |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | in Lamar County, Billy Joe Patterson graduated from West Lamar High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School and served aboard the U.S.S. Saipan during the Korean War in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the early 1950s; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson was employed by Babcock and Wilcox for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 33 years; after retiring from that job in 1988, he worked for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Tractor Supply and Whitaker Pawn; a member of Brookston Baptist |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Church, Mr. Patterson was an ordained minister who served |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | congregations in Fannin and Delta Counties; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | support of his wife, the former Barbara Carpenter; the couple were |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | married in 1955 and had the pleasure of welcoming two sons, Edwin |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and James, as well as six grandchildren and a great-grandchild into |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their family; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although he is greatly missed, Billy Joe Patterson |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | leaves behind a wealth of memories that will be treasured by all |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | those who were fortunate enough to share in his company through the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | years; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Billy Joe Patterson and extend |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Barbara |

| 29 | 29 | | Patterson; to his sons, Edwin Joe Patterson and James Bartley |

| 30 | 30 | | Patterson and his wife, Susan; to his grandchildren, Shelton and |
