44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Billy
66 Joe Patterson of Brookston, who passed away on February 18, 2009, at
77 the age of 76; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on July 23, 1932, to Sherman and Opal Patterson
99 in Lamar County, Billy Joe Patterson graduated from West Lamar High
1010 School and served aboard the U.S.S. Saipan during the Korean War in
1111 the early 1950s; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson was employed by Babcock and Wilcox for
1313 33 years; after retiring from that job in 1988, he worked for
1414 Tractor Supply and Whitaker Pawn; a member of Brookston Baptist
1515 Church, Mr. Patterson was an ordained minister who served
1616 congregations in Fannin and Delta Counties; and
1717 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and
1818 support of his wife, the former Barbara Carpenter; the couple were
1919 married in 1955 and had the pleasure of welcoming two sons, Edwin
2020 and James, as well as six grandchildren and a great-grandchild into
2121 their family; and
2222 WHEREAS, Although he is greatly missed, Billy Joe Patterson
2323 leaves behind a wealth of memories that will be treasured by all
2424 those who were fortunate enough to share in his company through the
2525 years; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2727 hereby pay tribute to the life of Billy Joe Patterson and extend
2828 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Barbara
2929 Patterson; to his sons, Edwin Joe Patterson and James Bartley
3030 Patterson and his wife, Susan; to his grandchildren, Shelton and
3131 Joseph Patterson, Lesli Donaldson, and Drew, Kaitlyn, and Jacy
3232 Patterson; to his great-grandson, Tony Donaldson; to his brothers,
3333 L. P. "Pete" Patterson and his wife, Doris, Weldon Patterson and his
3434 wife, Ellen, and Ted White and his wife, Carol; to his sisters, Faye
3535 Harris and her husband, Glen, and Ann Brockway and her husband,
3636 James; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
3737 further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4040 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4141 Billy Joe Patterson.
