5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Monroe |
---|
6 | 6 | | Travis Hardin of Paris, Texas, who passed away on February 20, 2009, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 71; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, "Tom" Hardin was born in Bagwell on August 6, 1937, |
---|
9 | 9 | | to Travis H. Hardin and Jesse Jackson Hardin; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Hardin was |
---|
11 | 11 | | a career member of the U.S. Air Force, serving for 23 years all |
---|
12 | 12 | | across the nation, in New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, Nevada, |
---|
13 | 13 | | Idaho, Texas, and Alaska, where he was stationed not far from the |
---|
14 | 14 | | North Pole; he also served with distinction in locales around the |
---|
15 | 15 | | world, such as Taiwan, Pakistan, Germany, and Thailand, where he |
---|
16 | 16 | | earned the Bronze Star; he retired in 1977 as a senior master |
---|
17 | 17 | | sergeant; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Hardin studied air |
---|
19 | 19 | | conditioning, refrigeration, and heating at Paris Junior College, |
---|
20 | 20 | | and then started an appliance repair business; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished Texan was active in his community |
---|
22 | 22 | | as a member of Paris Masonic Lodge No. 27 and Detroit Masonic Lodge |
---|
23 | 23 | | No. 531, and he was also a member of Oak Park United Methodist |
---|
24 | 24 | | Church; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tom |
---|
26 | 26 | | Hardin dedicated himself to his family, his community, and his |
---|
27 | 27 | | country, and memories of him will forever endure in the hearts of |
---|
28 | 28 | | all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Monroe Travis Hardin and extend |
---|
31 | 31 | | sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife of 50 |

32 | 32 | | years, Ann Dorman Hardin; to his son, Roy T. Hardin, and his wife, |

33 | 33 | | Renee; to his daughters, Suzanne Barnes and Janell Himes and her |

34 | 34 | | husband, Brian; to his grandchildren, Travis Hardin, Brandon |

35 | 35 | | Barnes, Tommy Hardin, Jessica Himes, Jackson Barnes, Amanda Himes, |
