44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Monroe
66 Travis Hardin of Paris, Texas, who passed away on February 20, 2009,
77 at the age of 71; and
88 WHEREAS, "Tom" Hardin was born in Bagwell on August 6, 1937,
99 to Travis H. Hardin and Jesse Jackson Hardin; and
1010 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Hardin was
1111 a career member of the U.S. Air Force, serving for 23 years all
1212 across the nation, in New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, Nevada,
1313 Idaho, Texas, and Alaska, where he was stationed not far from the
1414 North Pole; he also served with distinction in locales around the
1515 world, such as Taiwan, Pakistan, Germany, and Thailand, where he
1616 earned the Bronze Star; he retired in 1977 as a senior master
1717 sergeant; and
1818 WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Hardin studied air
1919 conditioning, refrigeration, and heating at Paris Junior College,
2020 and then started an appliance repair business; and
2121 WHEREAS, This accomplished Texan was active in his community
2222 as a member of Paris Masonic Lodge No. 27 and Detroit Masonic Lodge
2323 No. 531, and he was also a member of Oak Park United Methodist
2424 Church; and
2525 WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tom
2626 Hardin dedicated himself to his family, his community, and his
2727 country, and memories of him will forever endure in the hearts of
2828 all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
3030 hereby pay tribute to the life of Monroe Travis Hardin and extend
3131 sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife of 50
3232 years, Ann Dorman Hardin; to his son, Roy T. Hardin, and his wife,
3333 Renee; to his daughters, Suzanne Barnes and Janell Himes and her
3434 husband, Brian; to his grandchildren, Travis Hardin, Brandon
3535 Barnes, Tommy Hardin, Jessica Himes, Jackson Barnes, Amanda Himes,
3636 and Tucker Hardin; to his brothers, David Hardin and George Hardin;
3737 to his sister, Clara Burgess; and to his other relatives and
3838 friends; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4242 Monroe Travis Hardin.
