5	5	WHEREAS, The loved ones of Cory Lee Ellis of Mount Pleasant
6	6	were greatly saddened by her passing on February 7, 2009, at the age
7	7	of 93; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Mount Pleasant on August 1, 1915, Cory
9	9	Phillips was the daughter of Andrew and Nora Phillips; she married
10	10	Oscar "Jack" Ellis and with him shared a rewarding relationship
11	11	until the time of his passing; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Mrs. Ellis was the devoted mother of 14 children,
13	13	and with the passing years she had the pleasure of welcoming 55
14	14	grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren, 64
15	15	great-great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren
16	16	into the family; and
17	17	WHEREAS, A kind woman of steadfast faith, Cory Ellis was
18	18	considered the church mother by the congregation of the White Oak
19	19	Church of God in Christ, where she served as treasurer and taught
20	20	Sunday school; she was retired from Snow White Laundry in her
21	21	hometown; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Cory Ellis was a kind and caring woman, and she will
23	23	forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those fortunate
24	24	enough to have shared in the richness of her life; now, therefore,
25	25	be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
27	27	hereby pay tribute to the memory of Cory Lee Ellis and extend
28	28	sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her children
29	29	and their spouses, John Ersley and Geraldine Ellis, Vernett and
30	30	Nadine Ellis, Albertha and John Thweatte, Alnettia and Tom Carlyle,
31	31	Betty and Jimmy Hall, and Geneva and Duke Hamilton; to her
32	32	daughters-in-law, Mattie and Doris Ellis; to her son-in-law,
33	33	Theartis Brown; to her grandchildren and their extended families;
34	34	and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
35	35	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
36	36	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
37	37	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
38	38	Cory Lee Ellis.
