5	5	WHEREAS, Sammy Andrews of Addielou was inducted into the
6	6	Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2008, and this honor offers
7	7	well-deserved recognition for this respected stock contractor and
8	8	rodeo ambassador; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The son of fellow hall of fame inductee
10	10	B. D. Andrews, Sammy Andrews has been involved in the sport of
11	11	rodeo throughout his life; he competed in bareback riding and steer
12	12	wrestling and worked as a pickup man, and he began producing amateur
13	13	events in the 1980s; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Choosing to follow his father's example, he turned
15	15	his attention to stock contracting and soon became well known for
16	16	the quality of his animals, particularly for those he provided for
17	17	the bull-riding event; the most famous was Bodacious, considered
18	18	one of the greatest bucking bulls of all time, which gave up only
19	19	eight qualified rides during its years in the arena; and
20	20	WHEREAS, The Andrews Rodeo Company has also handled renowned
21	21	bulls such as Skoal's Outlaw Willie and Skat Kat, which, like
22	22	Bodacious, were honored with Bucking Bull of the Year honors;
23	23	official commendations have also been awarded to Mr. Andrews
24	24	himself, including his selection as the 2002 Stock Contractor of
25	25	the Year by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association; and
26	26	WHEREAS, A prominent figure in the world of rodeo,
27	27	Mr. Andrews and his livestock have been featured on television
28	28	programs and in newspaper and magazine articles, and he has become
29	29	an influential voice in the sport through his service on the
30	30	executive council of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association;
31	31	and
32	32	WHEREAS, Over the course of his long and accomplished career,
33	33	Sammy Andrews has contributed greatly to the growth of rodeo and
34	34	furthered the Lone Star State's considerable reputation as a center
35	35	for western-themed sports and activities, and he is indeed
36	36	deserving of this prestigious hall of fame honor; now, therefore,
37	37	be it
38	38	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
39	39	hereby congratulate Sammy Andrews on his induction into the Texas
40	40	Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for
41	41	continued success; and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43	43	prepared for Mr. Andrews as an expression of high regard by the
44	44	Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
