| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mills County Chamber of Commerce, |

| 10 | 10 | | the cook-off focuses on the preparation of barbecue goat, which |

| 11 | 11 | | pays tribute to the county's importance to the state's goat ranching |

| 12 | 12 | | industry; moreover, prizes are awarded in other categories, |

| 13 | 13 | | including brisket, pork spare ribs, chicken, and beans; and |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This fun and festive event features a range of |

| 15 | 15 | | enjoyable activities in addition to the barbecue competition, |

| 16 | 16 | | including a car show, craft exhibits, a Friday-night dance, live |

| 17 | 17 | | entertainment, and the ever-popular best-dressed goat contest; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A beloved community gathering, the Mills County Goat |

| 19 | 19 | | and BBQ Cook-off enjoys the support of local organizations such as |

| 20 | 20 | | the Lions Club, 4-H, and the Friends of the Library, and proceeds |

| 21 | 21 | | from the event fund the annual Easter egg hunt organized by the |

| 22 | 22 | | chamber of commerce; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For more than a decade, the Mills County Goat and BBQ |

| 24 | 24 | | Cook-off has played a notable role in enhancing the Lone Star |

| 26 | 26 | | fitting that this annual tradition be accorded special recognition; |
