44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, The loved ones of Elbert Patrick Barbee of Paris,
66 Texas, were greatly saddened by his passing on March 4, 2009, at the
77 age of 52; and
88 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Pat Barbee was born on August 24,
99 1956, in Paris, to Elbert Elmo Barbee, Jr., and Katheryne Patrick
1010 Barbee; he attended Paris Junior College, earned a degree from
1111 Texas Tech University, and pursued graduate studies at Texas A&M
1212 University--Commerce; and
1313 WHEREAS, He exchanged vows with the former LeAnn Starnes on
1414 December 20, 1980, at the First United Methodist Church in Paris,
1515 and through the years, the couple shared in the joy of welcoming
1616 three beloved children into their family; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Barbee was employed with Williams Sporting Goods
1818 for two decades, and after retiring, he went to work at Paris High
1919 School for five years; and
2020 WHEREAS, A congregant of First United Methodist Church, he
2121 participated in local cultural activities through his longtime
2222 involvement with the Paris Municipal Band, which he also served as
2323 announcer, and the Paris Community Theatre, which benefited from
2424 his leadership as president and board member, and from his talent as
2525 an actor in many productions; and
2626 WHEREAS, Although his time on earth ended far too soon, Pat
2727 Barbee will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those
2828 fortunate enough to have shared in his love and friendship; now,
2929 therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
3131 hereby pay tribute to the life of Elbert Patrick Barbee and extend
3232 deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, LeAnn
3333 Elizabeth Starnes Barbee; to his children, Erin Elizabeth, Ethan
3434 Patrick, and Caitlin Rae Barbee; to his brother, Mike Barbee, and
3535 his wife, Sarah; to his parents-in-law, the Reverend Ray Starnes
3636 and Carroll Starnes; to his brothers-in-law, Jeff Starnes and
3737 Charles Starnes and his wife, Pam; and to his many other relatives
3838 and friends; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4242 Pat Barbee.
