5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The loved ones of Elbert Patrick Barbee of Paris, |

6 | 6 | | Texas, were greatly saddened by his passing on March 4, 2009, at the |

7 | 7 | | age of 52; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native Texan, Pat Barbee was born on August 24, |
---|
9 | 9 | | 1956, in Paris, to Elbert Elmo Barbee, Jr., and Katheryne Patrick |
---|
10 | 10 | | Barbee; he attended Paris Junior College, earned a degree from |
---|
11 | 11 | | Texas Tech University, and pursued graduate studies at Texas A&M |
---|
12 | 12 | | University--Commerce; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He exchanged vows with the former LeAnn Starnes on |
---|
14 | 14 | | December 20, 1980, at the First United Methodist Church in Paris, |
---|
15 | 15 | | and through the years, the couple shared in the joy of welcoming |
---|
16 | 16 | | three beloved children into their family; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Barbee was employed with Williams Sporting Goods |
---|
18 | 18 | | for two decades, and after retiring, he went to work at Paris High |
---|
19 | 19 | | School for five years; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A congregant of First United Methodist Church, he |
---|
21 | 21 | | participated in local cultural activities through his longtime |
---|
22 | 22 | | involvement with the Paris Municipal Band, which he also served as |
---|
23 | 23 | | announcer, and the Paris Community Theatre, which benefited from |
---|
24 | 24 | | his leadership as president and board member, and from his talent as |
---|
25 | 25 | | an actor in many productions; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although his time on earth ended far too soon, Pat |
---|
27 | 27 | | Barbee will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those |
---|
28 | 28 | | fortunate enough to have shared in his love and friendship; now, |
---|
29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

31 | 31 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Elbert Patrick Barbee and extend |

32 | 32 | | deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, LeAnn |

33 | 33 | | Elizabeth Starnes Barbee; to his children, Erin Elizabeth, Ethan |

34 | 34 | | Patrick, and Caitlin Rae Barbee; to his brother, Mike Barbee, and |
