CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The general convention of delegates of the people of
Texas meeting at Washington-on-the-Brazos adopted the Texas
Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature has designated March 2 of each
year as Texas Independence Day and declared that date to be a state
holiday; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby direct the State Preservation Board to reserve the Capitol
Rotunda for an organized Texas Independence Day celebration on
March 2 of each year; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the executive director of the State Preservation Board
as an expression of the sentiment of the Texas Legislature.
