| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Eddie W. Klatt retired from the Midland Fire |

| 6 | 6 | | Department on February 26, 2009, drawing to a close a notable tenure |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in public service that spanned more than 37 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Midland, Mr. Klatt joined the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Midland Fire Department in September 1971; he demonstrated an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | unwavering dedication to serving and protecting his fellow |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | citizens, and he retired as assistant fire chief of the department; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Klatt follows in the footsteps of his father, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the late William E. Klatt, who joined the Midland Fire Department as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | a volunteer in 1935 and later became the city's third professional |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | firefighter and its first paid fire marshal; Eddie Klatt honored |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | his father's life and achievements by choosing to retire on Bill |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Klatt's birthday, February 26; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Klatt enjoys the love |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and support of his wife, Cindy; moreover, this esteemed Texan has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | garnered the respect and admiration of the citizens of Midland, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for his many accomplishments and his enduring commitment to serving |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | others, he is an inspiration to all who are fortunate to know him; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | hereby congratulate Eddie W. Klatt on his retirement from the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Midland Fire Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for |

| 28 | 28 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
