H.C.R. No. 162 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Eddie W. Klatt retired from the Midland Fire Department on February 26, 2009, drawing to a close a notable tenure in public service that spanned more than 37 years; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in Midland, Mr. Klatt joined the Midland Fire Department in September 1971; he demonstrated an unwavering dedication to serving and protecting his fellow citizens, and he retired as assistant fire chief of the department; and WHEREAS, Mr. Klatt follows in the footsteps of his father, the late William E. Klatt, who joined the Midland Fire Department as a volunteer in 1935 and later became the city's third professional firefighter and its first paid fire marshal; Eddie Klatt honored his father's life and achievements by choosing to retire on Bill Klatt's birthday, February 26; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Klatt enjoys the love and support of his wife, Cindy; moreover, this esteemed Texan has garnered the respect and admiration of the citizens of Midland, and for his many accomplishments and his enduring commitment to serving others, he is an inspiration to all who are fortunate to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Eddie W. Klatt on his retirement from the Midland Fire Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Klatt as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
