6 | 6 | | Upton of Blossom, who passed away on March 24, 2009, at the age of |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on July 20, 1944, to Bonnie and Claude |

9 | 9 | | Upton, Jimmy Upton lived in several different locations throughout |
---|
10 | 10 | | the United States before settling in Paris, Texas, in the early |
---|
11 | 11 | | 1960s; he answered his nation's call to duty with service in the |
---|
12 | 12 | | Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. |
---|
13 | 13 | | Army and earned two Bronze Stars; Mr. Upton married the love of his |
---|
14 | 14 | | life, the former Billie E. Harris, in 1970, and the couple nurtured |
---|
15 | 15 | | a rewarding marriage that was made even richer by the addition of |
---|
16 | 16 | | three children and two grandchildren; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Upton went to work as a welder for Babcock & |
---|
18 | 18 | | Wilcox after returning from the war, and his career there spanned |
---|
19 | 19 | | more than three decades; he also owned and operated his own |
---|
20 | 20 | | automotive repair shop in Blossom for a number of years; in 1998, he |
---|
21 | 21 | | retired from both occupations and shortly afterward went to work as |
---|
22 | 22 | | an aircraft mechanic for L3 Communications; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Known to his friends as "BoBo," Mr. Upton was a |
---|
24 | 24 | | member of the Blossom Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing |
---|
25 | 25 | | when not at work or spending time with his loved ones; although he |
---|
26 | 26 | | will be deeply missed, Jimmy Upton leaves his family and friends |
---|
27 | 27 | | with a wealth of fond memories that will be treasured long into the |
---|
28 | 28 | | future; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmy E. Upton and extend sincere |
---|
31 | 31 | | sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Billie Upton; to |
---|
32 | 32 | | his children, Michelle Bailey, Stephanie Gandy, and Jody Upton; to |
---|
33 | 33 | | his grandchildren, Mallory Ackley and Jayden Upton; to his brother, |

34 | 34 | | Claude Upton; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be |
