44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Jimmy E.
66 Upton of Blossom, who passed away on March 24, 2009, at the age of
77 64; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on July 20, 1944, to Bonnie and Claude
99 Upton, Jimmy Upton lived in several different locations throughout
1010 the United States before settling in Paris, Texas, in the early
1111 1960s; he answered his nation's call to duty with service in the
1212 Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S.
1313 Army and earned two Bronze Stars; Mr. Upton married the love of his
1414 life, the former Billie E. Harris, in 1970, and the couple nurtured
1515 a rewarding marriage that was made even richer by the addition of
1616 three children and two grandchildren; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Upton went to work as a welder for Babcock &
1818 Wilcox after returning from the war, and his career there spanned
1919 more than three decades; he also owned and operated his own
2020 automotive repair shop in Blossom for a number of years; in 1998, he
2121 retired from both occupations and shortly afterward went to work as
2222 an aircraft mechanic for L3 Communications; and
2323 WHEREAS, Known to his friends as "BoBo," Mr. Upton was a
2424 member of the Blossom Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing
2525 when not at work or spending time with his loved ones; although he
2626 will be deeply missed, Jimmy Upton leaves his family and friends
2727 with a wealth of fond memories that will be treasured long into the
2828 future; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
3030 hereby pay tribute to the life of Jimmy E. Upton and extend sincere
3131 sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Billie Upton; to
3232 his children, Michelle Bailey, Stephanie Gandy, and Jody Upton; to
3333 his grandchildren, Mallory Ackley and Jayden Upton; to his brother,
3434 Claude Upton; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
3535 it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3838 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
3939 Jimmy Upton.
