| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The live and archived broadcasts of the House and |

| 7 | 7 | | Senate chamber proceedings and committee hearings provide Texans |

| 8 | 8 | | with vital access to the workings of state government and to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | important issues under consideration that affect the lives of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | countless citizens each day; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Many people use these broadcasts to monitor |

| 12 | 12 | | legislative issues and to observe their elected officials at work, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and while the video and audio capacity of both chambers is |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | impressive, upgrades could be implemented to make the websites even |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | more user-friendly; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Currently, users must watch an entire broadcast to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | find the particular segment of interest to them, and this |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | time-consuming approach may actually deter them from accessing the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | material at all; an option to search videos by bill number, author, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | witness name, and witness affiliation would greatly increase the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recordings' overall usability and further encourage the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | participation of citizens in state government; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | hereby direct House Video/Audio and Senate Media Services to pursue |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | appropriate avenues to implement enhanced search options for those |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | systems that provide broadcasts of legislative meetings; and, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official |
