| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Dorthy |

| 6 | 6 | | Matthews of Mount Pleasant, who passed away on April 8, 2009, at the |

| 7 | 7 | | age of 73; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Avery on September 5, 1935, the former |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Dorthy Forsyth was the daughter of Horace and Sallie Caddenhead |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Forsyth; she became the wife of David Matthews, and the couple |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | enjoyed a long and rewarding marriage; they were the parents of five |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | children, Lynn, David, Dwayne, Sheila, and Charlotta, and with the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | passing years, Mrs. Matthews saw her family grow to include 18 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Matthews was a member of Choctaw Baptist Church |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for many years and worked as the manager of Perry Brothers; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, Dorthy Matthews led a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | caring and purposeful life, and she leaves her loved ones with many |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | treasured memories of happy times spent in her company; now, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorthy Matthews and extend sincere |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Lynn |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Matthews and his wife, Pam, David Neal Matthews and his wife, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Sharon, Sheila Carter and her husband, Walter, and Charlotta Hughes |

| 26 | 26 | | and her husband, Ricky; to her grandchildren and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | great-grandchildren; to her siblings, Louis, Gary Don, James, and |

| 28 | 28 | | Joyce Forsyth; to her special friend, Rex Collins; and to her other |
